Guards, Sikh regiments march to glory

CISF declared the best in the category of paramilitary forces

The Brigade of the Guards and the Sikh regiments were jointly adjudged the best marching contingents among the services during this Republic Day Parade, while the CISF was declared the best in the category of paramilitary forces. This was announced by the Defence Ministry on Thursday on the eve of the Beating Retreat ceremony.

Among the 25 tableaux, including nine from Ministries and government departments, the first position went to the Maharashtra tableau, which depicted the “wari to Pandharpur” (the pilgrimage to Pandharpur). The Jharkhand tableau on “Maluti Temples” was adjudged the second best and the Karnataka tableau based on famous “Channapatna toys” got the third position.
