Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gopal Rai was appointed as the Delhi convener of the party on Thursday.

The decision was made a day after Dilip Pandey resigned from the position, taking responsibility for the party’s poor performance in the municipal elections.

Meeting held

Mr. Rai was handed over the charge during a meeting of legislators at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Thursday. The meeting had been called to discuss the party’s performance in the municipal elections.

Mr. Rai’s name was later cleared by the party’s Public Affairs Committee.

When The Hindu contacted Mr. Rai, he refused to comment on his plans to take the baton forward.
