The 35-year-old man who was shot at in Gole Market here following an argument with a customer on Tuesday evening succumbed to his injuries hours after the incident.

A senior police officer said the victim, Satender Singh, who was an employee of Bangla Sweets and was allegedly shot at by a cash-van security guard Neeraj Kumar, died during treatment at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on Wednesday morning.

Following the post-mortem, Singh’s body was handed over to his family members who had arrived from his hometown Bhind after coming to know about the incident.

Singh was shifted to RML from Sucheta Kripalani Hospital early on Wednesday morning.

According to the police, the accused, Neeraj, who had been booked for attempt to murder, will now be charged with Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Neeraj was arrested near the shop soon after he allegedly pumped a bullet into Singh’s body.

The incident took place in full public view after Neeraj, who had come to the shop to buy jalebis, got into a fight with the victim who asked him to stand in a queue as there were other customers before him.
