The Delhi Police Crime Branch on Sunday arrested two more persons in connection with the kidnapping for ransom case of a telecom businessman of North-West Delhi last month. Among those arrested are Mr. Ahuja’s girlfriend Shivika Chauhan and his cousin Sunny who is the alleged mastermind in the case.
Last month, Mr. Ahuja filed a complaint that on December 22, he along with his friends Shivika Chauhan and Sunny was kidnapped by 4-5 unidentified persons from his guest house in Shalimar Bagh.
“They were confined in the area of Najafgarh. Before shifting the complainant from Shalimar Bagh to somewhere in Outer District or Najafgarh area, the kidnappers forced him to drink a sedative liquid, consuming which made him unconscious. The complainant further reported that when he came into his senses, he found himself at some unknown place and he was beaten up and tortured by accused persons who were demanding Rs.2 crore as ransom for their safe release. Finally, Saurabh agreed and he along with his friends Shivika Chauhan and Sunny was released by the accused in the intervening night of December 24 and 25 after paying a ransom of Rs.98 lakh,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
After his release, Mr. Ahuja smelt a rat sensing the conspiracy of some of his staff members behind his kidnapping. A case of kidnapping for ransom was registered in Shalimar Bagh and investigations were taken up.
On January 10, the Crime Branch had arrested four kidnappers of Sunil Rathee gang of Haryana, who disclosed about role of Sunny, Raj Walia, Arun Vohra and Shivika Chauhan in the conspiracy behind the kidnapping.
“Since, the arrest of four kidnappers of Sunil Rathee gang in the case, the accused Sunny, Raj Walia, Arun Vohra and Shivika Chauhan were absconding and on the run and were arrested on Sunday,” said Mr. Yadav.
During their interrogation, the accused have purportedly revealed that Sunny was the mastermind behind the conspiracy.
