Body of missing child recovered

The body of a seven-year-old girl who was feared to have drowned in North-West Delhi’s Haiderpur canal last Friday was recovered in Inderlok on Wednesday morning.

The girl, identified as Khushboo, lived with her parents in a slum in Haiderpur. She had gone swimming in the canal with her elder sister on Friday evening when she went missing, said Vijay Singh, DCP (North-West). “The police and fire-fighters searched over a stretch of more than two kilometres, but could not find her,” said the DCP.

The girl was found with most of her clothes missing, which triggered the suspicion that she may have been sexually abused. However, the probe revealed that she died by drowning, said the police.
