Kobad Ghandy, the Maoist leader arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police last month in coordination with intelligence agencies, was sent to three days’ police custody by a court here on Monday.

Following his arrest, Mr. Ghandy was sent to judicial custody after he complained of cardiac complications. He was medically examined, following which the police approached the court seeking his custody for interrogation. They suspect that Mr. Ghandy can lead them to the other Maoist leaders operating from different parts of the country.

The police have seized a laptop, a computer hard disc and a pen drive purportedly belonging to Mr. Ghandy, who had allegedly been living in hiding at Badarpur in South Delhi. They are also trying to ascertain if he had travelled to other countries on the basis of forged travel documents.

According to the police, Mr. Ghandy was arrested on September 21. However, his supporters have alleged that he was picked up four days earlier.
