Stunt bikers roaming the city streets have been looked upon as a public nuisance. But serious motorbike enthusiasts have been trying to spread the word that stunt biking is actually a sport that requires skill and a controlled environment to practise.
Bikers will get the opportunity to witness and participate in the sport this weekend at the Cruise India Motorbike Show that is being organised at the Hayatt Regency in Gurgaon.
The two-day show in its second edition is bringing an international stunt championship, Motor Xtreme Madness, that will enable Indian stunt athletes to compete for international stunt titles and gain recognition among world professionals. Athletes who perform well will get an opportunity to be managed by Cruise India for offshore competitions.
Stunt bikers will perform wheelies, stoppies, burnouts and other free-styling tricks. The event will see Stuntmania winner Babar Khan promoting the passion for free style stunting that has been growing in the country.
The show will have events like a vintage bike show, bikeography, bike overhaul, bike customisation workshop and a ride for a cause. Visitors will be able to marvel superbikes that are over 1,000 cc, modified bikes, customised bikes and hear the engines roar at a competition for the loudest chopper. Those attending can get their bikes washed at an exclusive ‘bikini bike wash’ station.
The fun will not only be restricted to bikes as the event will have a Pitstop Party which will have artistes from Australia and Finland playing Electronic Dance Music. There will be flea markets where riders can pick up accessories, get a piercing or indulge in some body art with a tattoo artiste.
Bikers from Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur and Gujarat will also get together to ride for a cause by raising funds to support the needs of special children at Snehanjali School for Special Children.
The second day of the event on Sunday will have a number of new launches, awards and felicitations for riders and talk shows.
The event will be held this Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. onwards at the Hayatt Regency in Gurgaon. Visitwww.cruiseindiatour.com for tickets and details.
