Dhane Ram often travels from Rohini to Pandit Pant Marg mostly to prepare large quantities of food at the Delhi State headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He has in the past prepared aloo-sabzi during a rally in the Ram Leela grounds, he packed puris for supporters who attended West Delhi candidate Parvesh Verma’s rally and on Thursday he was racing against time to create 300 kilos of tiny yellow balls of sweetmeats.
Mr. Ram is a food contractor who has been hired by the State unit of the party in anticipation of a thumping victory when results of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls are declared on Friday. His seven aides were preparing the menu for the big day – pumpkin sabzi, aloo sabzi, raita, puri, sooji halwa and of course, lots of ladoos. “Sweets will be prepared in the election offices that were set up across the seven parliamentary constituencies,” said a party worker.
Around him the State office was getting dressed up with tents made of white and saffron cloth and marigolds. LED screens will display results, audios system will be put in place and party cadres will gather early in the day. Delhi BJP Chief Harsh Vardhan’s predication that the party will see a clear victory across all seven seats has been reiterated by his party cadres.
“There is so much enthusiasm among the workers that they have started celebration in entire Delhi from today itself without caring about the results of Lok Sabha elections tomorrow. For the first time in the history of independent India the country has already accepted the prime ministerial candidate as the Prime Minister of the country even before the declaration of results,” said Dr. Vardhan in a statement.
The Delhi BJP has also made arrangements for welcoming its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi from Airport to the Ashok Road headquarters when he arrives in the city on Saturday. Five main areas in this route have been identified for party workers to gather and take out a procession towards the party headquarters.
