Four men suspected to be members of a gang of robbers from the Mewat region have been arrested in East Delhi. The police claim to have recovered the stolen articles and the getaway vehicle from them.

Investigations into the activities of the gang were taken up after truck driver Mohan, a resident of Sultanpur, lodged a complaint alleging that in the early hours of June 21 he and his helper Sunil Patel were robbed of nine tonnes of tar steel. Mohan was giving him directions when three more persons joined him. They overpowered him and his helper. The robbers then drove off with the truck towards Sohna in Gurgaon, where they locked up the two victims in a room and vanished from the scene along with the consignment.
