Four persons have been arrested by the South district police for allegedly duping unemployed people on the pretext of getting them employment in Malaysia.
Addressing a press conference here, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) B.S. Jaiswal said the 29 victims hailed from 12 different States.
The complainants responded to advertisements seeking computer operators for Malaysia-based firm Overseas Growth.
“They were informed that they would have to undergo a series of interviews before selection. They were also asked to deposit their academic certificates, passports and Rs. 5,000 for medical examination. Later, the complainants also deposited another Rs. 65,000 for obtaining visasThe complainants did not receive any documentsand found the company’s office in Katwaria Sarai here closed,” said Mr. Jaiswal.
A case was registered at the Vasant Vihar police station.
In due course, the police zeroed in on four men — Rehan Khan, Tabrej Alam alias Rahul, Sayed Jamal Ur Rehman alias Inshi and Akash Kumar alias Sonu.
