Four men have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 19-year-old woman at a restaurant in North-East Delhi’s Jaffrabad area on Thursday.

The arrested persons have been identified as Umar, Salman, Feroz and Sandeep. While the victim is said to be in a relationship with Umar, Sandeep is the owner of the restaurant where the crime was committed.

In her complaint, the victim said she and Umar had known each other for quite some time and on Thursday evening he had taken her to the restaurant. A little later, as the two were seated in the restaurant, Feroz and Salman reached there and they took the victim to a room on another floor in the same complex as the restaurant where Umar forced himself upon her.

When the accused allowed her to go, she approached the police. Based on her complaint, a case of gang-rape was registered and the four men were subsequently arrested, said the police.

Earlier on Thursday afternoon, a 27-year-old woman was allegedly raped by two men at Pushp Vihar after one of them assured her of a job in the New Delhi Municipal Council. One of the two accused, a Safdarjung Hospital employee, has been arrested while a hunt is on to arrest the other, said the police.

The victim, a migrant from Bihar, had come to the Capital looking for a job. She had gone to the NDMC office on Parliament Street last week.

“While she was on her way back, she met Vijender who is an ICU attendant at Safdarjung Hospital. Vijender told the victim that he could arrange a job for her after which the two exchanged phone numbers and on Thursday, Vijender told her to meet him,” said a senior police officer.

Following this, Vijender and his friend picked the victim from Punjabi Bagh and took her to a house in South Delhi’s Pushp Vihar on the pretext of arranging a meeting with someone who would help them in getting a job for her. There the victim was served drinks laced with sedatives and fell unconscious after consuming them. According to the police, she was then raped by the two and thereafter dumped near Parliament Street police station. In another case, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 24-year-old man at her house in Seemapuri here on Friday afternoon. The accused has been arrested.
