Fog envelops Delhi, no respite from cold

January 15, 2010 11:53 am | Updated 11:53 am IST - New Delhi

Dense fog and icy winds maintained their grip over the city today, giving people no respite from the cold conditions.

The minimum temperature dipped to 7.7 degree Celsius from yesterday’s minimum of 8 degrees. The maximum temperature was recorded at 17.1 degrees yesterday, the Met department said.

A thick layer of fog descended on the city in the wee hours and reduced the visibility to less than 200 metres at 7 am, the Weatherman said. About 14 flights were delayed at the airport due to fog.

The Met department attributed the cold wave spell to icy winds blowing from the snowcapped mountains in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the MeT department, the temperature will oscillate between six and 19 degree Celsius tomorrow.
