Okhla AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan has alleged that Congress workers opened fire at him outside the party office in Jamia Nagar’s Batla on the early hours of Wednesday.

The police, however, said they received contradicting claims from both the sides and added that they were probing the issue and would look for independent eyewitnesses.

Mr. Khan told The Hindu  that as he was talking to a police officer outside the office around midnight, three men — who he alleged are local Congress workers — started firing from a motorcycle.

"I recognise them, because, almost an hour before the firing, there was a scuffle between our workers and Congress men in the area during the municipal election campaigns," he said.

He alleged that the Congress was flustered by the support the AAP was gaining in the area.

The police said, they initially received information about clashes between AAP and Congress workers at the Batla House Chowk.

"Another call was received at 12:57 a.m. about the firing from AAP MLA Ammanatulla. On enquiry, both the parties blamed each other. No one was injured in the firing. Both the parties have been asked to give a written complaint," a senior police officer said.
