A fire broke out in the generator car of the Delhi-bound Patna-New Delhi Rajdhani express at Chander Vihar in Mandawali at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. However, all passengers are safe.

According to a Northern Railway official, the fire was brought under control by detaching the generator car from the train and dousing the fire with the help of fire engines that rushed to the spot. The incident took place after the train had crossed the Anand Vihar railway station and was on its way to the New Delhi railway station.

Noticed by guard

“Smoke emanating from the generator car was noticed by the train guard who alerted the authorities. The cause of the fire would be known after an official enquiry is conducted in the matter,” said a Northern Railway official.

The train finally resumed its journey at 6 p.m.
