A factory worker was killed while two others sustained burns when a fire broke out at a readymade garments factory in South West Delhi’s Sitapuri late on Saturday night.

At the time of the incident over a dozen workers were in the factory, said the police. A case of causing death by negligence has been registered against the factory owner.

A fire department official said a call was received around 11.30 p.m. Eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Three workers were rescued and rushed to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where one among them was declared brought dead.

The deceased has been identified as Arun (23), who hails from Itawa while the injured are Ram Kumar (27) and Aman (19). Police officers said that the factory did not have any fire fighting mechanism in place and the cause of fire was a short circuit.
