The Delhi Police on Tuesday night busted a casino racket running at a farmhouse in south Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri and arrested 30 people on the spot.
The police claim to have recovered casino tokens worth crores.
Owner nabbed
Farmhouse owner Suresh Yadav, a retired Army personnel, was arrested along with 10 organisers and 19 others, including five women attendants, the police said on Wednesday.
“We received a tip-off nearly a week ago about gambling activity at the farmhouse. We kept a watch and decided to raid the premises on Tuesday night after we spotted people coming in that evening,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Chinmoy Biswal.
When the police entered the premises, people were gambling on four tables managed by the organisers and attendants.
“They were also being served alcohol at the venue,” he said.
According to the police, gambling at the farmhouse started soon after the organisers rented it in May. The police claimed to have seized nearly 8,500 casino tokens, 45 packs of playing cards and 53 bottles of liquor.
“We have registered two cases under relevant Sections of the Delhi Public Gambling Act and Delhi Excise Act at Fatehpur Beri police station. Investigations are on to determine the involvement of other persons,” said Mr. Biswal.
