Farmers belonging to Kisan Khetihar Majdoor Sangharsh Samiti assembled near Raj Ghat and later staged a demonstration near the Delhi Secretariat on Monday demanding adequate compensation for the land acquired by it.

They also warned that they would not allow the Delhi Development Authority to go ahead with its projects if their demands are not met by November 15.

The farmers belonging to over 100 villages from trans-Yamuna and other areas of the city and National Capital Region demanded that the Government pay compensation as per market rates for the land forcibly acquired from them.

Speaking on the occasion, senior BJP leader Vijay Goel said he understood the plight of the farmers who were paid a pittance by the Government and would assist them in getting adequate compensation.
