Fake notes racket busted

A Malda-based syndicate that procured fake Indian currency notes, believed to be printed in Pakistan, through the Indo-Bangladesh border was busted on Sunday.

P.S. Kushwah, DCP (Special Cell), said two men were arrested with fake currency notes amounting to Rs. 3 lakh. Vikas Kumar Sharma and Motilal Basak were caught exchanging fake currency notes at the Anand Vihar bus stand.

The fake currency notes were circulated in Delhi and Punjab. The officer said the Special Cell knew about a Malda-based syndicate pumping fake notes into Delhi since April. The Cell was tipped-off about the presence of two men coming to the .

Two wads contained notes in the denomination of Rs 1,000, total amounting to Rs 2 lakh. The rest of the fake notes were in Rs 500 denomination.
