Hearing on Tomar’s bail plea deferred

A Delhi court on Thursday deferred the arguments on the bail application of former Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar, accused in an alleged fake degree case, till June 16.

Additional Sessions Judge Sanjeev Jain deferred the hearing after observing that the documents related to the case were not available to the court. The court also directed the investigating officer to appear in person.

The 49-year-old MLA from Trinagar was remanded in four-day police custody by a Delhi court on Tuesday.

Mr. Tomar, who quit as Delhi Law Minister after >his arrest on Tuesday , claimed to have done his B.Sc. from RML Avadh University, Faizabad.

Investigators said a >First Information Report was registered and Mr. Tomar was arrested only after finding concrete evidence of his wrongdoing following a complaint by Bar Council of Delhi Secretary Punit Mittal on May 11.
