The Safdar Hashmi Memorial Trust on Wednesday organised an exhibit “Hum Sab Ayodhya” on the 25th year of the demolition of Babri Mosque in Ayodhya.
The exhibit took visitors back in time to discover the history of Ayodhya as well as explore artworks on the demolition of the mosque. Displays carried the old maps of Ayodhya along with text from books published by historians and surveyors. From the earliest record of Ayodhya to its depiction during Mughal rule to exploring its architecture, the exhibition gave visitors an insight into Awadhi culture.
Some displays also carried testimonials from travellers who visited the area in the past and their account of what they experienced.
Silent spectators
The organisers said that through the exhibition, they wanted to spread the message that they can no longer be silent spectators to the destruction of secular values that have sustained the nation. “We wish to emphasise the paramount importance of adhering to democratic and constitutional norms, and appeal to all to rise above the tide of hatred and violence,” said SAHMAT.
