Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung on Thursday directed the Delhi Police to focus on measures to ensure safety of women and see that all steps are being taken to provide a safe environment in the Capital.

Mr. Jung gave directions to this effect to senior Delhi Police officers at his fortnightly meeting at the Raj Niwas where Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar was also in attendance.

‘Increase presence’

“The L-G directed senior officers to focus on safety of women and ensure all possible steps in this regard. He instructed the police to increase presence in vulnerable areas, ensure preventive action, focus on community approach programmes, and strongly deal with criminals involved in crime against women,” said Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat.

The L-G also reiterated that senior supervisory officers should continuously monitor the efforts taken towards women safety, said the officer.
