DUTA demands permanent posts for ad-hoc teachers, writes to V-C

‘Regularise teachers working in ad-hoc capacity for long’

The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) has written to Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Tyagi, requesting him to call a meeting of the Academic and Executive councils of the university. The objective is to formulate a one-time resolution for absorption of ad-hoc teachers into Delhi University (DU) and its affiliated colleges.

The DUTA has also demanded that teachers who have worked in an ad-hoc capacity for long periods must be regularised. In its letter to the V-C, the DUTA highlighted the plight of thousands of ad-hoc and temporary assistant professors who face job insecurity despite being experienced and academically-sound. This because DU stopped holding interviews for regular appointments.

The DUTA also said that these teachers had given the prime of their youth to serve the university, but got little in return.
