A man was arrested and a juvenile apprehended on Friday in connection with a shoot-out case in south Delhi, the police said adding that five pistols were seized from their possession.

The arrested are members of a group that had opened fire at Crime Branch team on being asked to stop their SUV for checking purposes near Delhi-Faridabad border on Thursday, the police said.

Fled the spot

Following this, five criminals of the gang had managed to flee the spot.

The Crime Branch had received an information that a gang had been trying to procure a large cache of sophisticated weapons, the police said. The gang was in touch with various suppliers of illegal arms in Baghpat, Hodal, Kosi and Mathura, the police added.

The accused on March 21 went to Kosi Kalan in Mathura for procuring the weapons where the deal was finalised, the police added. The cops learnt that the gang would be returning to Delhi via Faridabad and would further take Surajkund Road for entering the city. After this, a trap was laid near Delhi-Surajkund Border.

The police signalled the vehicle to stop but the driver rammed the car into the barricade and tried to run over an officer. The miscreants then opened fire at them and few rounds of fire were exchanged between the cops and accused. During the search of the abandoned vehicle, five semi-automatic pistols, including two 9 mm pistols, nine live cartridges and two spent cartridges were seized, the police said.
