A Delhi University student allegedly committed suicide at her paying guest accommodation on Friday in Karawal Nagar here, the police said on Sunday.

Rashmi (19), a second-year student at Vivekananda College, was found hanging in her room. Deputy Commissioner of Police (north-east) A.K. Singla said the landlord called the police at 7.55 a.m. She was taken to a hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. Her family has accused their distant relative Akash, who lives in another room in the same PG accommodation, of involvement. However, doctors said it appears to be a suicide. Mr. Singla said her family took the body after the post-mortem on Sunday.

The police had not lodged a case as on Sunday, but investigations are on.
