Delhi University is geared up for Day One of the admission season 2013 on Wednesday, when a large numbers of prospective students and parents are expected to troop in.
Help desks, volunteers
“We have several help desks, and teacher and student volunteers who will help students with any queries, and we have made more windows available for sale of forms. Visually-disabled students who wish to apply online will also be helped by special help-desks,” said Miranda House Principal Pratiba Jolly.
The college is among the centres that will be selling the forms on the North Campus along with the Arts Faculty and Kirori Mal College.
Different students’ organisations with a presence in the university will also be there ready to help.
“We have set up help desks across 18 centres around the city, and we have come up with a 32-page information booklet which has everything you need to know about the admission process, the new four-year undergraduate course and the colleges,” said Rohit Chehel of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
This year, the Dean Students’ Welfare office has specifically requested the students to fill this form online to avoid crowding on the campus and has even slashed the online price to half of the price charged for over-the-counter forms. Scheduled Castes/Schedules Tribes and Persons with Disability students will get them free of charge online and at Rs.50 offline (along with the prospectus).
“Last year too we had online forms, but there was no let up in the number of people coming in,” said Deputy Dean Students’ Welfare Gurupreet Tuteja.
He added that students should bring their grievances to the conference centre on the North Campus and the Deputy Deans’ office on the South Campus.
The university has come up with a special helpline/ information centre, which will answer any admission-related query from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all working days at 155215 or 011-27006900.
