On the last day of sale of pre-admission forms by Delhi University, the 16 admission-cum-information centres across the city sold 6,702 forms and received 19,231 forms.

The total sale recorded over the 13-day sale period was 186,575 forms, while a total of 142,127 students submitted their forms.

Delhi University had started selling forms on May 28 at four centres in North Delhi, six in South Delhi, three in East Delhi, two in West Delhi and one in Central Delhi.

The number of forms sold is roughly over 35,000 more than last year's figure of 1,49,000, while the number of submissions are also much higher.

On the final day of sale of forms, students who had put off purchasing forms till the last minute were seen making a rush to DU. The North Campus roads were packed with queues of vehicles and even more cycle-rickshaws and pedestrians jostling for space. Serpentine queues were also seen outside the university metro station.

DU is a much sought after destination with students from all over the country applying to study here. Now that the phase of sale and submission of forms is complete, the university will compile and scan all data collected from the pre-admission forms following which respective colleges would be provided with lists of candidates wanting to take admission in particular courses in the college.

The first cut-off list for admissions would be announced by colleges on June 22 followed by the second cut-off list on June 26 while the third cut-off list would be announced on July 1. Colleges which have a fourth cut-off list would announce it on July 6. Those who have an aptitude for certain extra-curricular activities and sports can try their luck in the ECA and sports trials.
