: With the arrest of eight persons, the Delhi Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted an international drug syndicate that supplied popular party drug mephedrone (meow-meow) in the Capital. Drugs worth Rs.25 crore have been purportedly seized.

The racket was busted after the police received a tip-off that one Mumbai-based man would be coming to Delhi to receive a consignment.

“The suspect, Faizan Supariwala, was subsequently arrested from Greater Kailash-II on July 23,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.

Two packets of meow-meow, weighing 1.215 gm and 995 gm, were recovered from Faizan’s possession. He said he had received the drugs from one Sunny, a resident of C.R.Park. Later, Surender Singh alias Sunny was arrested from Greater Kailash-II.

“A packet of mephedrone weighing 650 gm was recovered from Sunny,” said Mr. Yadav.

Faizan revealed that he worked for his relative Arif, and they used to send drug consignments to Gulf and European countries with the help of one Kailash.

At the instance of these members, others identified as Rishi, Guddu Yadav, Manoj Sengar, Sanjay Khanna, Dipak Parashar and Mahender Rana were arrested, and more drugs seized. Rana was allegedly found to be in possession 9.90 kg of mephedrone, the largest among the gang members, said the police.

Shocking revelation

“Rana disclosed that a Customs employee had provided him 21 kg of mephedrone, and he had already sold off around 12 kg of it through Sanjay Khanna,” said Mr. Yadav.

Mr. Yadav said more members of the alleged network could be arrested.
