A homeopath doctor has been arrested for allegedly killing his female domestic help in Sunlight Colony here on October 26.
The highly decomposed body of 55-year-old Gulabo was found in the rented accommodation of N. K. Sharma, a homeopath doctor, who practiced in Badarpur. Enquiries by the police revealed that he had taken the house on rent a few days ago through a friend. Gulabo had been working as a help at the doctor’s clinic for the past nine years. He was last seen with the victim on October 20 at his new residence.
Suspecting the doctor’s involvement, the police mounted a search for him. He was finally traced to the Inter-State Bus Terminus in Kashmere Gate on Tuesday. During interrogation, he purportedly disclosed that he retired from the Air Force as sergeant in 1989. After retirement, he and his wife Kusum, from whom he has two sons, did a course in homeopathy and started practicing from a clinic in Badarpur.
Owing to an estranged relationship, Dr. Sharma divorced his wife and she started practicing separately in Pul Prahladpur. After separation, he allegedly started calling sex workers.
About two months ago, Gulabo saw him in a compromising position with a woman on the first floor of the clinic and allegedly started blackmailing him. He then allegedly planned to eliminate her. On October 20, he allegedly made her consume some sedatives and then took her to the Sunlight Colony accommodation. After she fell asleep, the doctor allegedly hit her on the head with a brick, strangled her with a wire and then fled the spot after locking the house.
He kept shifting from one place to the other in Meerut, Baghpat, Shamli, Mathura and Hardwar to evade detection.
