A Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) engineer was arrested for allegedly raping his live-in partner, a 24-year-old girl, several times on the promise of marriage.

The incident was reported from Shakarpur in East Delhi on Tuesday.

A case was later registered based on the victim’s complaint.

Victim’s complaint

“We registered a case on the basis of the victim’s complaint. Following the complaint, we have arrested the accused, Jitender Kumar,” said a police officer.

The victim, who works with a private company, told the police that she met the accused a few months ago.

‘Marriage promise’

“On the pretext of marriage, the accused persuaded the victim to live with him at his flat in Yamuna Bank in East Delhi. For over a month, they were living together in the same house. The accused raped her several times during this period,” the police officer added.

“When the accused refused to marry the victim, she approached the police,” said the officer.
