Power distribution company BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) has alleged that an employee of the company who was assaulted by a Lajpat Nagar resident and is currently recuperating at the AIIMS Trauma Centre was threatened on Saturday and his oxygen pipe removed.

In a statement issued on Monday, the company claimed that two persons entered the ICU at the Trauma Centre on Saturday and threatened Sahab Singh, a BRPL official who had been assaulted and beaten up by Lajpat Nagar resident Subhash Saluja and his accomplices on Thursday.

“Using foul language, they asked him to take Rs.50,000 and compromise, else, threatened him of dire consequence. A complaint for the same has also been registered,” said a company spokesperson.

Earlier on Thursday, four BRPL officials, including Mr. Singh, had gone to the Saluja residence to collect the payment for his long-pending electricity bill of Rs.91,400. A security guard told the team to wait till the arrival of Ms. Saluja. Soon, she returned home but since no payment was made even after waiting for sometime, they went ahead and disconnected the electricity connection to the premises.

As they were about to leave, Mr. Saluja came around 1-30 p.m. He asked the BRPL team to reconnect the electricity supply (which they did) and invited them inside the house on the pretext of paying the pending dues. He then locked the drawing room from inside. Subsequently, he and his three accomplices mercilessly beat-up the BRPL officials. An FIR No. 210 was filed at the Lajpat Nagar police station,” the spokesperson said.
