Delhi Urban Development and Finance Minister A. K. Walia on Tuesday said the Delhi Government has taken steps to include the topic of disaster management in the school curriculum and is also coming out with a ready guide for households on how people should respond in the event of an earthquake.

He said the book is a compilation of all precautionary measures which if taken properly would minimise loss of life and property in the event of a natural disaster.

Dr. Walia, who inaugurated a Disaster Management Week at the office of District Commissioner, East (Revenue), at Shastri Nagar and also flagged off a Disaster Management Awareness van to create mass awareness about natural events, said the Delhi Government has also been operating a toll-free disaster helpline 1077 for the benefit of the people.
