Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday said a probe will be conducted to find out the reasons behind the death of four children, who accidentally fell into a pit allegedly dug by the Delhi Jal Board.

“We want to inquire that how did the incident happen, how did the children stray there,” Ms. Dikshit told reporters.

Sources said an inquiry panel has already been ordered into the incident and it has been asked to file its report within four days.

The children died after falling into the pit at Gopalpur Gaon of Timarpur area on G. T. Karnal Road at around 8:30 pm on Friday night.

A case of criminal negligence has been registered.
