As per the latest Economic Survey of Delhi, the per capita income of the city, which is already three times the national average, is likely to cross ₹3 lakh during 2016-17.
“The per capita income of the city was nearly three times the national average at ₹2,73,618 in 2015-16 compared to ₹2,49,004 in 2014-15. The advance estimate of the per capita income of Delhi at current prices during 2016-17 is estimated at ₹3,03,073,” read the survey which was tabled in the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday.
As per the survey, ₹30,225.16 crore in taxes was collected in the Capital during 2016-17.
The corresponding figure in 2014-15 was ₹26,602 crore, with a growth rate of 13.61%.
Surplus 0.89% of GSDP
Revenue surplus (actual amount of net income over and above the projected amount) of Delhi reduced to 0.89% (estimate) of the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) in 2016-17.
GSDP is defined as a measure of the volume of all goods and services produced within the boundaries of a State during a given period.
In 2015-16, revenue surplus was ₹8,656 crore compared to ₹6,075 crore in 2014-15, the report said.
The advance estimate of GSDP of Delhi at current prices during 2016-17 is likely to be ₹6,22,385 crore, which is estimated to grow at 12.76% over 2015-16, the report stated.
