There is still hope for students aspiring to get admission in Delhi University as a number of colleges issued a fourth cut-off list on Sunday. The drop in the cut off, however, was not very significant for elite colleges.
The much-sought after Hindu College still has admissions open for Commerce, Economics, Sociology, Chemistry and Botany programmes, though the cut-offs have not dropped significantly.
Seats in Commerce are still available in over 20 colleges, most of which are off-campus colleges. Hans Raj, Gargi, Hindu, Kamala Nehru and Kirori Mal are among the top colleges that still have seats available for the course.
In Hans Raj College, admission can still be taken in Economics at 96.25 per cent, while it is open in Hindu College at 96.5 per cent, in Sri Venkateswara College between 95.75 per cent and 96.25 per cent, and in Kamala Nehru between 90.5 per cent and 92.5 per cent.
English too is available at Hans Raj, Miranda House, Kirori Mal and Ramjas Colleges among others.
Due to withdrawals in some courses in different colleges, fresh cut-offs in the list have re-opened admissions. For students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes, admissions are still open as most colleges are yet to fill the quota. However, colleges like Lady Shri Ram have closed admission in most courses. Except History, admission for all courses in the popular girls’ college is closed for the general category.
Science courses are mostly closed, with only six colleges open for admission for Chemistry. Some colleges are still offering B.Tech in Computer Science in the fourth cut-off list.
Notification of fifth admission list by the colleges, if any, will be issued on July 11.
