The tax collection of the Delhi Government has grown by 10.6 per cent during the financial year 2013-14. Total money collected during the year was Rs.25,913 crore as against Rs.23,432 crore in the previous financial year 2012-13.

“Total tax collection under VAT, state excise, stamps and registration fee, motor vehicle tax, entertainment tax and luxury tax was Rs.25,913 crore during 2013-14 registering a growth of 10.6 per cent over the collection of Rs.23,432 crore during 2012-13 in spite of slowdown in the economy,” said a statement of the Delhi Government.

According to the data released by the Planning Department, the collection under VAT was Rs.17,926 crore indicating a growth of 13.4 per cent contrary to the collection of Rs.15,804 crore during the preceding financial year.

The Motor Vehicle Tax registered a growth of 13.4 per cent as the collections went up to Rs.1,406 crore; while the State Excise department collected Rs.3,152 crore registering a growth of 9.8 per cent over the previous year’s collection of Rs.2,870 crore.
