Delhi rape accused injures self in police lock-up

The 25-year-old Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) scholar who was arrested for allegedly raping his 13-year-old sister-in-law reportedly injured his private parts in a bid to cut it in the police custody.

Police sources said that the accused, who was arrested on Saturday on rape charge, rubbed his private parts against the concrete wall inside the lock-up.

He was under police custody for interrogation in connection with the case in which he is also accused of making the victim pregnant twice and forcing her to go for abortions.

“After the security personnel heard his shouts, they rushed to the lock-up to discover that he had injured his private parts from where blood was oozing,” said the source. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was given medical assistance for the injuries. Later on, he was discharged from the hospital and sent to the Vasant Vihar police station again .
