With Delhi assembly polls drawing closer, BJP on Wednesday sharpened its attack on Congress saying the party has left “no sphere free from corruption” and blamed it for problems faced by people.

“Congress isn’t aware about the condition of people. Can’t good roads be made here? Can’t people living in clusters get regular water supplies? Congress is responsible for resident’s woes,” said former BJP president and Delhi election in-charge Nitin Gadkari while campaigning for the party’s Mehrauli candidate.

“This party has left no space free from corruption. Congress had done corruption in air -- 2G scam; on land -- Commonwealth games, and even underground -- Coalgate scam,” he added.

Slamming Congress for “dynasty-politics”, Mr. Gadkari said “Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit worries about Sandeep Dikshit while Congress President Sonia Gandhi worries about Rahul Gandhi.”

“Congress’ mere concern is to make Rahul Gandhi the prime minister of India. I ask, what makes him qualified for such a post?” said Mr. Gadkari adding that wherever Mr. Rahul goes, the number of Congress votes go down.

“I appeal to our Mehrauli candidate Parvesh Sahib Singh to invite Rahul to Mehrauli. We will witness our victory with a much larger difference,” said Mr. Gadkari taking dig at the Congress vice-president.

Mr. Gadkari reiterated BJP’s promise of reducing electricity bills by 30 per cent, if the party is voted to power, and said Solar panels would be installed on every house for even cheaper electricity.

Solar panels would be installed on every house. Each household would produce their own electricity, which will cost you only Rs 4.5 per unit. New meters will be fitted in your house, Gadkari said.

In a bid to touch a chord with voters, Mehrauli candidate Parvesh Sahib Singh appealed them to vote for him as a “tribute” to his of father and former Chief Minister of Delhi Sahib Singh Verma, who passed away six years back.

“This is my first election. My father’s name, his reputation is at stake. This election should be a tribute to Sahib Singh Verma and nothing more.

“Six years back, we lost of our leader from the area, my father. Even today people of this village have not forgotten their leader,” said Mr. Singh.

He blamed Congress for poor condition of roads, severe lines and water shortage in the area.
