A protest over his allegations of the involvement of a BJP MP in the >murder of a government official grew further outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence here on Monday with more leaders joining in.

BJP MP from East Delhi Mahesh Girri is to be joined by his colleague Vijay Goel outside Mr. Kejriwal's Civil Lines home on the second day of his hunger strike, according to a senior party spokesperson.

This, even as Mr. Girri, who was >accused by Mr. Kejriwal of being involved in the murder of NDMC estate officer M.M. Khan for allegedly not acquiescing to the demands of the owners of a prominent hotel in Connaught Place here last month, found support in MP Subramanian Swamy.

Mr. Girri had challenged Mr. Kejriwal, who spearheaded a >move to confer the status of martyr to Khan last week and wrote to Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung not to "save him" from police investigation on his role, to a public debate.

The BJP MP had written to Mr. Kejriwal to have a public debate over his allegations against him which the Chief Minister did not comply with.

In a letter to Mr. Kejriwal on June 16, Mr. Girri invited him to the Constitution Club to produce “evidence” he had against him in the case on at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Mr. Kejriwal did not accept the challenge, following which Mr. Girri, accompanied by his party supporters, reached the Chief Minister’s flagstaff Road residence and sat on a hunger strike.

Khan was shot dead in Jamia Nagar on May 16, a day before he was scheduled to pass the final order on the lease terms of a hotel that was functioning on a property leased out by the civic body.

Arrest Girri, says Kejriwal

Meanwhile, Mr. Kejriwal took to twitter where #BaharAaoKejriwal was trending even as BJP supporters were tweeting against him.

In a tweet, Mr. Kejriwal demanded that Girri be arrested. “He shud be arrested n interrogated by Modi police in MM Khan murder case. Modi police shielding him,” he said.

"Let's decide once and for all, who is dharna party of India?" he retorted in another tweet.
