Delhi Metro allows advertisement on exterior of trains

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to allow advertisement on the exterior of metro trains.

This is the first time that the DMRC will be permitting ‘train wraps’ with advertisement . However, as of now, the DMRC is offering only 10 per cent of its 200-strong fleet of trains under operation for advertisement.

“ The DMRC operates a fleet of over 200 train sets with over 60 eight-coach trains and over 80 six-coach trains.

The ‘train wraps’ shall be permitted on 10 per cent of the total train sets available on the operational lines of Delhi Metro network,” a Delhi Metro spokesperson said.

The Delhi Metro has awarded exclusive advertising rights for displaying pictures, printed material, electric/electronic media, smart posters, and holographic images on the external part of its trains.

Two agencies

The rights have been given to two agencies, which will be valid for 10 years. The agencies will give an annual licence fee. .

“The DMRC will monitor the activity so that it contributes to the aesthetic value of the Delhi Metro through high-quality advertising comparable to world class airports and metros ,” a spokesperson said.
