Delhi government suspends Arvind Kejriwal’s aide

After questioning the five for half a day, the agency decided to arrest them.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s >Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar wason Wednesday suspended by the government following his arrest on Monday by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with a corruption case.

Any government servant, a Home Ministry official said, is deemed to be automatically suspended 48 hours after his or her arrest. Mr. Kumar wasremandedto CBI custody for five days the day after his arrest.

The CBI called Mr. Kumar, a 1989-batch IAS officer of UT cadre, for questioning on Monday along with Tarun Sharma, a Deputy Secretary in Mr. Kejriwal’s office, and three others.

After questioning the five for half a day, the agency decided to arrest them.
