A 51-year-old cable TV businessman was found stabbed to death at his residence in New Rajendra Nagar on Wednesday. The police suspect rivalry as a motive behind the murder as the entry of the attacker(s) appeared friendly and the house was not ransacked.

The injuries on Tarun Bajaj’s body were deep, said eyewitnesses. Apart from slitting his throat, there were stab injuries on the abdomen and chest.

“The stitches on Bajaj’s body from a recent bypass surgery recently were also opened with a sharp object in the attack,” said a source.

Around 1.30 p.m., domestic helps Sant Ram and Ranjeet had arrived at the house to for work, but the doorbell went unanswered. They waited at a nearby park for a while and then informed Bajaj’s wife Ritu about the same, said a friend of the victim.

Ms. Bajaj, a legal advisor with the DSIIDC, discovered the body after returning from office around 6 p.m.

She used a duplicate key to enter the house and found him lying on the bed.

“The body was covered with a sheet,” said a source.

The police was informed and a case has been registered.

The childless couple had been living in their flat for the last 15 years. The victim ran his business from their first floor home. Besides Sant Ram and Ranjeet, another boy ran daily errands for the Bajajs. Police are questioning all three.
