Delhi BJP demands cut in power tariff

June 05, 2010 12:42 pm | Updated 12:42 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Delhi BJP president Vijendra Gupta has accused the Delhi Government of conspiring with the private power discoms for exploiting the citizens of the Capital.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Gupta charged that despite the discoms earning huge profits the Delhi Government stepped in to protect them by not allowing the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission to reduce the power tariff.

In this way, he said, the people of Delhi have been deprived of the money they would have saved.

The BJP is planning a protest march from Jantar Mantar to the Chief Minister's residence this Monday.
