The Bar Council of Delhi has written to the Delhi Police for a detailed inquiry into the allegations of submission of forged degree, mark sheets and certificate by Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar while seeking enrolment as an advocate.
Mr. Tomar had applied for enrolment in 2011, and the council had enrolled him as an advocate the same year.
In January this year, a man filed a complaint with the council against Mr. Tomar. The complainant had also submitted a letter written to him by Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh Univesrity, Faizabad, in which it was mentioned that the mark sheets and the degree of K.S. Saket P.S. College, Faizabad, pertaining to Mr. Tomar and submitted by him to the council was forged, the complaint said.
The council later sent a letter to the university along with photocopies of the B.Sc. degree and mark sheets submitted by Mr. Tomar for verification.
The university in its reply informed the council that the B.Sc. degree of K.S. Saket P.S. College, mark sheets and the roll number are forged, the complaint said.
Petition in HC
In the meantime, another person filed a petition in the Delhi High Court in this regard.
Tilaka Manjhi Bhagalpur University in Bihar filed an affidavit in the petition in the High Court, saying that the provisional certificate of being a law graduate submitted by Mr. Tomar at the time of his enrolment is a fabricated document, it said.
The complaint filed with the DCP, South, through the council’s secretary Puneet Mittal said, “It is prima facie established that Mr. Tomar by means of false representation and on the basis of forged mark sheets and degree claimed to be a graduate, and on the basis of forged provisional certificate claimed to be a law graduate.”
“And on the basis of such false representation and… forged documents he obtained enrolment with the Bar Council of Delhi in 2011,” the complaint said.
The council has requested the police to conduct a detailed preliminary inquiry into the alleged forged documents. It also requested the DCP to submit a report by May 28.
