Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal on Tuesday chaired a meeting on traffic management to review the action points identified for de-congestion of two significant corridors falling on Aurobindo Marg and Savitri flyover.
The L-G said that all stakeholders needed to coordinate efforts on a “war-footing” to decongest the corridors and submit timelines for the purpose. The corridors in question are the stretches between Aurobindo Marg and Andheria More; and between Chirag Delhi crossing and Savitri flyover.
A senior official said that Mr. Baijal was in favour of prioritising strict enforcement against unauthorised parking, removal of encroachment and prevention of re-encroachment.
The meeting was attended by Urban Development and PWD Minister Satyendar Jain and other senior officials.
Mr. Jain said that the ‘no-parking’ rule must be enforced on the stretches.
The L-G has directed the Traffic Police to take necessary action immediately.
“It was agreed by all the stakeholders that activities such as removal of encroachment, redesigning of certain stretches, erection of iron grills on central verges at identified spots, construction of Foot-Over-Bridges and underpasses wherever necessary, and shifting of trees needed to be undertaken immediately,” Raj Niwas said in a statement.
