Perhaps for the first time, an exclusive enclosure was set up for farmers at the inaugural function of Mysuru Dasara.

The pandal put up near the Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hills on Tuesday had separate seating arrangements not only for the general public, VVIPs and media, but for farmers too.

The district administration thought it fit to have a separate enclosure after the State government scaled down the celebrations in view of the farm crisis, and dedicated the festivities to farmers by inviting progressive farmer K. Puttaiah to inaugurate the Dasara festivities this year.

Most vendors atop Chamundi Hills try to attract customers towards their wares in their singular way.

Ramesh, who was selling dark glasses on Tuesday when the Dasara festivities were inaugurated at Chamundi Hills, was drawing eye-balls on his own.

Garland

For, he was virtually making a style statement by wearing a garland of dark glasses.

Dollu Kunitha is among the most popular folk dances in Karnataka, particularly in the Mysuru region. A troupe of Dollu Kunitha artistes performed their drum dance during the inaugural function of the Dasara.
