DDA restructuring creates lay-off fear

DDA puts up notices asking employees not to believe in rumours

September 16, 2014 11:24 am | Updated 11:25 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The recent news of restructuring of the DDA, on the order of the Lieutenant-Governor, has created the fear of being laid-off among its employees.

The DDA administration has now tried to allay this fear of layoff by putting a circular at various locations in its offices informing that no such step is being considered.

“Under the idea of restructuring the DDA, a study was conducted by the National Productivity Council, which suggested cutting down on certain unnecessary positions in the DDA. Somehow, the employees thought it would involve cutting down of workforce. However, we have informed them that they don’t need to worry,” said a DDA official.

The circular read that certain mischievous elements were spreading rumours about layoffs and no promotions.

The administration urged employees not to get dissuaded by such rumours and instead continue to work for the betterment of the civic agency.

The land agency is in the process of restructuring, which comes following the March 12, 2014, order of the Lieutenant-Governor after which the National Productivity Council was engaged by the DDA to conduct a study and give suggestions for introducing greater efficiency in the organisation.

Besides doing away with unnecessary division of offices, the Council had also suggested merger of certain departments with overlapping areas of work, strengthening of critical areas like planning and finance and computerisation of the land agency with an interactive website. The DDA offices — Vikas Sadan and Vikas Minar — would also be made into model offices.

DDA camp for housing conversion ends

A three-day special camp for conversion of Group Housing Societies flats from leasehold to freehold was organised by the Delhi Development Authority recently.

The camp was organised at the request of RWAs of the IP Extension area.

All pending conversion applications, which were received on or before July 13, were taken up for disposal. New applications were also received at the camp.

“A total number of 365 allottees visited the camp and 101 conveyance deeds were issued on the spot. Around 360 new conversion forms were also sold and 145 new applications for conversion were received,” DDA said.
