Cyclone Nanauk hikes moisture level in Capital

June 12, 2014 08:30 am | Updated 08:30 am IST - NEW DELHI:

A cyclone in the Arabian Sea named Nanauk, that is expected to hit Oman on June 15, has caused an unexpected hike in Delhi’s moisture levels. “Strong Western winds have caused the increase in moisture and a dip in temperature although the heat wave still persists,” said R.K. Jenamani, director, Meteorological Office, Palam.

The day’s average moisture was between 10 per cent and 15 per cent on Tuesday. This doubled to 30-40 per cent on Wednesday, he added. The maximum temperature remained high at 45.2 degrees Celsius in Safdarjung and 47 degrees Celsius in Palam.
