To present a “clean and beautiful city” during Commonwealth Games, Delhi Government today directed MCD and police to launch an anti-defacement drive and clear the metropolis of the numerous posters, banners and unauthorised hoardings.
Finance Minister A K Walia directed both the agencies to strictly enforce provisions of the Delhi Defacement Act, which envisages stringent action including hefty fine and imprisonment against those found defacing public properties.
“The enforcement agencies should ensure that no poster, banner and wall writing is visible in the capital, he said adding, “We will have to present Delhi as a world class city.”
Mr. Walia also exhorted citizens not stick posters and banners in public places during the ensuing festival season.
