Days after the Special Cell of the Delhi Police shot dead four suspected criminals in Chhatarpur, it arrested a 46-year-old man following a shoot-out in Greater Noida on Tuesday, an official said. The man was carrying a ₹1 lakh reward on his head.
Kishan Pal suffered bullet injuries in his legs during the gunfight while his accomplice managed to flee, the police said.
In a joint operation by the Special Cell and the Uttar Pradesh Police, Kishan was nabbed after an exchange of fire near Paramount Apartments roundabout at Bisrakh in Greater Noida, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) P. S. Kushwah said.
Keeping a tab
The Special Cell team had been keeping a tab on Kishan for the last four months and had learnt that he would commit a robbery along with an accomplice in the area. Around 5.25 p.m., when a car with Delhi registration number was spotted, the police surrounded the vehicle and asked Kishan and his accomplice to surrender.
Instead of surrendering, the two fired upon the police personnel, who were saved by their bulletproof jackets, Mr. Kushwah said.
“Eventually, Kishan was overpowered and two pistols and live cartridges were seized from him,” the DCP said.
