A Delhi court on Wednesday said the stay on the telecast of a documentary on the December 16 Delhi gang-rape case would continue.
The Delhi Police informed Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjay Khanagwal that they had obtained restraining orders barring the media from broadcasting the documentary.
On Tuesday, Metropolitan Magistrate Puneet Pahwa passed a stay order on telecast, transmission, uploading and publishing of the documentary.
Mr. Khanagwal said the stay would continue till further orders.
The FIR lodged in the matter says that a British filmmaker, Leslee Udwin, from the BBC, interviewed Mukesh Singh, one of the convicts in the Nirbhaya case.
In the documentary, the convict has made offensive and derogatory remarks against women, creating an atmosphere of fear and tension, with the possibility of public outcry and a law and order situation.
The police also said the airing of the documentary might lead to widespread public outcry and a serious law and order problem as had happened after the December 16 gang-rape.
The documentary was scheduled to be telecast on BBC and NDTV on Women’s Day on March 8.
